Blackjack
The Game
Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games. The objective of this game is to draw card(s) totaling 21 or as close to 21. The player wins if his points are higher than the dealer.
Picture cards (King, Queen & Jack) count as 10, Ace as 1 or 11, whichever is to your advantage, and all other cards count as face value.
E.g.
King + 2 + 5 = 17
9 + Ace = 20 or 10
There is no limit to the number of cards drawn as long as the total point count is not lesser than 12 and definitely not exceeding 21.
Easy To Understand. Fun To Play.
The game begins with you betting using House chips only. The betting limits are displayed at the gaming table.
You will be dealt 2 cards, while the House takes 1 card, and the cards will be dealt face up.
Your total points for the first 2 cards shall determine whether additional cards are required.
You must have either a minimum total point of 12 or maximum 21 (“Blackjack” or “Natural 21″) for the initial 2 cards. If not, you are required to “Hit” an additional card or cards until you have a count of not less than 12 and not exceeding 21. No additional card should be drawn if your total points have exceeded 21 (also known as “Going Over” or “Bust”), in which case you lose.
However, if the House’s first card is an Ace, you have an option of taking “Insurance” against the House having a possible “Blackjack”.
When your total point count is above 12 and below 21, you may “Stay”. After all the other players have their turns at drawing card(s) and stayed, a second card will be dealt to the House. The House must have a minimum total point of 17 and also not exceeding 21. E.g. 10 + 4 + 3 = 17 (the House will stop drawing additional cards).
Terms Used In Blackjack
When the total point for the initial 2 cards dealt equals 21
E.g.
Picture + Ace = 21 or Ten + Ace = 21. The House pays you 3 to 2.
Soft 21
Where the total point count of cards in hand is 21 (other than the initial 2 cards).
E.g. First Two cards: Ace + 5 = 16, third card drawn is 5, therefore, 5 + 16 = 21.
A “Blackjack” shall take precedence over a “Soft 21″.
Hit
When additional card(s) are required.
Stand or Stay
When no additional card is required.
Split
Any initial 2 cards dealt with identical or same value e.g. 5 and 5, you can “Split” it into 2 different hands and the amount of bet to be placed in the new hand shall be the same with the original bet.
The Player must at least draw 1 card for each hand. The Dealer shall deal a second card to the first of the “Split” hands and shall complete the Player’s decision in respect of that hand before proceeding to deal any cards to the other “Split” hand. However, for an Ace pair “Split”, Player can draw only 1 card. You can “Split” your “hand” up to a maximum of 3 hands only.
Doubling or Double Down
You may double your original bet if your initial 2 cards or the initial 2 cards of any “Split” pair have a total point count of 9, 10 or 11 (the cards should not consist of an Ace or a “Blackjack”). Your additional bet must be the same with your original bet (e.g. original bet is Rm10, additional bet should also be RM10), therefore, the total bet is RM20.
After “Doubling”, you may only draw 1 card, regardless of whatever your total point count is.
Insurance
When the House’s initial card is an Ace, you have an option of taking “Insurance” against the House having a possible “Blackjack” (betting limit is half of your original bet or lesser). If the House had a “Blackjack”, you lose your original bet and are paid 2 to 1 on your “Insurance” bet.
If the House has no “Blackjack”, the “Insurance” bet will be regarded as a losing bet.
Surrender
You may “Surrender” to the House by giving half of your bet provided the House’s first card is not an Ace. All decisions to “Surrender” shall be made immediately after the initial 2 cards are dealt to you.
Push
When your total point count is the same with the House. Neither wins.
Even Money
When the House has an Ace for the first card and you have a “Blackjack”, you may request to be paid 1 to 1 before the House draws a third card for the other players.
Going Over or Bust
When the total points for all cards drawn have exceeded 21.
